General Guidelines:
1. Decide in advance what each page will be about. Focus on a single area for each page i.e. “The Theme” for that page.
2. For each page’s “Theme “use 2 or max 3 keyword phrases in the page content and each pages Meta Tags (description in code).
3. Apply keyword phrases consistently and logically throughout the body text. Use them also in hyper links. Try to use them at the beginning of paragraphs and sentences.
4. Each page should ultimately persuade customers to do something “Call the Action”. Download, call, buy etc etc.
5. The keywords / phrases used within the page content must be consistently used in the Meta tags and ALT Text (technical descriptors see below).
Specific Page Guidelines:
6. Use 250 – 350 words per page.
7. Provide or reference thumbnail imagery to be used within each page
8. Write a Title Tag for each page
a. This is the title of the page and should be unique for each website page (see top left of your screen when on a webpage)
b. This is the text that appears first within the organic Google listings, therefore very important.
c. Use no more than 11 words for each Title tag
d. Apply the page specific 2 or 3 key word phrases within the title tag preferably at the beginning.
e. Make it factual, yet enticing if possible.
9. Write a Description tag for each page
a. This is the description of what’s on the page and should be unique for each website page.
b. Use no more than 20 words for each description tag
c. Apply the page specific 2 or 3 key word phrases within the description tag preferably at the beginning.
10. Write a Keyword Tag for each page
a. Use no more than 50 words within each keyword tag
b. Write the page content first and then pull out the main keywords from this content and build the keyword tag.
11. Write ALT (description) text for all imagery to be used on the page – Google can’t see an image but it will see this text.
a. Simply replicate the title tag content on page ALT text
