Description:

McConnells is a business specialising in the development, manufacture and distribution of specialty coatings and adhesives for industrial applications. Inspiration were commissioned by McConnells to redesign and redevelop its web presence targeting both the UK and Ireland with separate .ie and .co.uk websites. McConnells is known in Ireland as being a very well established “traditional” family business. Not withstanding this a very contemporary, clean and bright image led design approach was adopted to target the wider UK market where brand awareness was lower.

The brief called for an eCommerce platform to promote and sell online the extensive range of own label and branded products covering a wide range of industrial applications and target markets. Magento was chosen as the open source eCommerce “shopping cart” platform . This was due to of its wide functionality, search engine friendliness, robustness and growing community support as well as its flexible architecture and many 3rd party plug-ins.

Multiple bespoke design templates were developed to address the different stages in the buying process. These were developed and incorporated into Magento. The shopping cart was configured to meet McConnells requirements on delivery, returns and payment terms. The eCommerce platform was integrated into Releax using new merchant account / codes.

A full search engine optimization programme was planned & implemented both upfront pre go live and post go live to ensure the website performed well in the main search engines for important keyword phrases. Google adwords were tested and set-up. Google analytics implemented for site traffic statistics and monthly reporting performance tracking.
